Crap to Craft~nick name T-shirt

I didn't have a ton of time to put together a birthday present for one of my sons best friends so it was a little last minute. But I actually think is is one of my favorite gifts that I have ever made.

We went to the store and got him a fun little Nerf gun and I bought a plain white T-shirt.

I love thinking up projects for my Silhouette and I was determined to think of a gift idea for this little boy.

His name is Ryan, but in his family he is called by a bunch of cute nick names. His mom even wrote up a post about them all on her family blog so that's were I headed to find them.

Once I had them all saved I entered them into my program for my Silhouette and organized them all cute with different fonts.

Then all I had to do after they were cut out was set them where I wanted them and ironed them on.

Easy peasy and the birthday boy ended up LOVING it!

burp cloths

Time has flown by and I am having this baby NEXT month!!! AAhhhhh. So I made "the list" and checked off all the things I have and need. These were in the need category. I love finding fun funky fabric and paring it with chenille...yummy. I can't wait for baby boy to puke all over these. :)

Mister Monster

My son, who is crazy grumpy in these pictures, had a birthday party to go to this weekend.
The birthday boy turned 4 and I figured that any 4 year old boy might need a monster pal. I found this tutorial online and loved the idea.
I adjusted the size, I wanted a BIG one, and I added different detail for the eye, beans in the body and fuzzy hair for the tummy.
Very easy, very cute!!

Daddy's Tie Snakes

If you have any of your husband's or brother's or grandpa's ties laying around and they don't get worn...DON"T THROW THEM AWAY!!!
Make these for someone instead.
I took the tie (sorry forgot to take pictures) and cut it about mid-way then layed it out on coordinating fabric, pinned it and used it as a pattern. Cut.
After coordinating piece it's cut, pin both pieces (right sides together), not forgetting to stick in a pre cut tongue, facing in. This is where it was a little tricky... I sewed all the way around but left a 3 inch opening about 4 inches away from the end of the tail and another one half way between the head and the middle of the body. It is really Hard to pull that tail right side out, but if you take your time it is possible. A large chopstick helps. Once the snake is turned right side out you should still have 2 openings. Blanket stitch the one by the tail closed. Then comes the filling. I used beans and made sure to push the beans all the way down the tail. Don't over fill!! You'll want this snake to be bent and coiled when played with.
Once it is filled to your liking, blanket stitch the 2nd opening shut. For eyes you could have sewn on buttons before sewing the 2 pieces together but I just made it simple and cut out small circles of felt, sewed on a button and then hot glued the felt to the snake after it was put together.
All done! Fun, Easy and a hit for my 4 year old.

Getting ready...

We are expecting a new baby boy in our house at the end of May so I have been in full on baby mode. I just made this fun car seat cover. And I am praying that it is gonna be the right length since I didn't have the shade thingy for the car seat, it's in storage, so I shoved pillows in to what I think is the right height.
I LOVE it and cant wait to have a little baby under it!

Robot memory game

My son Connor's birthday is coming up and he is really into games. So I thought I would make him a memory game.
He loves robots and I found this super cute paper and the round box at Michaels.
I actually found these chipboard circles first and they inspired the whole project.
I painted them, and mod podged the paper on the backs.
And did the same for the front of all the circles. I love them and have plans to make some for church with faces of the prophets.
Such a fun gift!!

Snowman poop treats

I made these for my kids to take to their class at school. If you cant see I attached a pack of hot chocolate to the backs of all of the marshmallows.

They say; " You've been bad so here's the scoop, all you get is Snowman poop!"

They were a huge hit because what little kid doesn't want a bag of snowman poop!!
