teachers gifts

Our kids come from a long line of teachers. On both sides. Their Dad, their Grandpa's, Aunt's, Uncles, and Great Grandpa's. We know that the job of a teacher is very much under appreciated and under paid! This past week was teacher appreciation week and I always try to get something made for each of my kids teachers because we love them so much.

This year we made these super fun giant pencils filled with yummy treats and candy for each teacher.  (It wasn't until after Macie gave this one to her teacher that I realized I left an N off of the end of her name. Oops!)

They were so fun to make and deliver, all the kids in the classes thought they were so cool.

The kids have had such a great year and learned so much. WE LOVE OUR TEACHERS!

Another one of my Pinterest finds!!

Christmas Pull Tab Cans Tutorial

I had seen cans like this all over the internet and thought they would make a great gift for my kids to give to their teachers.
This is what you need:
~A soup can that has a tab top. At first I bought another brand and realized the bottom of the can didn't have the right kind of lip. Campbell's soup's do!
~Cute Christmas paper and paper cutter
~Glue gun
~Ribbon, ric rac, ect for decoration
~Your choice of candy to fill the can.
~Filler for the very bottom, I used tissue paper.Start with your soup can.Empty or eat soup. Peel off label turn can up side down and open the BOTTOM of can with a can opener leaving about a half inch still connected. See picture above. Wash can well and dry..don't cut yourself!Decorate! Measure out paper to fit around the can and cut. Use glue gun, at various points, to glue paper to the can. I found it easier to lay the can on it's side and roll the paper on. Add ribbon and extras to your liking.Fill can with candy. I did mine in layers.Once you have about an inch left of space in the can stop putting candy in. Fill the last inch with a filler so that when you glue the lid shut you don't melt the candy.Using the glue gun hold the lid in its original position under the lip and lay a thick layer of glue all the way around the lid.I held the lid in place for a second to make sure it didn't pop back up above the lip.I didn't like the look of all the glue so I cut circles out and glued them on top so you couldn't see the glue mess.Tie a tag to the tab top and let the glue harden and Wala, you have a super cute gift to give to any teacher, bus driver, or mail man.

Christmas Cookie Cans

I have Christmas on the brain. As soon as it starts to get cold all I want to do is curl up in my comfy socks and drink apple cider.

These are a few gift idea's that we had for sale in my sister and I's booth at the crafters market a few years ago. I love them for friends or the ladies you visit teach. Easy and adorable!

These cans are available at most any craft store, add cute Christmas scrapbook paper and matching ribbon with Pod Podge. Add in a cute fabric napkin, cookie mix or two, choclate chips, wooden spoons and some fun cookie cutters hanging from the handle.
Walah!! This next can was on the less expensive side. A Hot Cocoa Can. The can is smaller and just has the cocoa mixes, chocolate and candy canes. And I had to throw this one in as well. Not Christmas-ish at all but it was so fun. It's a can fit for a girlie girl, it is packed with girl stuff and what princess wouldn't want one of these for their birthday?

Birthday tins

Another favorite project for birthday presents. I love starting with just a blank white tin lunch box and making it fit the personality of the Birthday girl.
You can get these tin lunch boxes at any craft store usually, I get mine from a scrapbook store in town.

Latest Project

Baby showers galore! I have two friends that are having baby girls around the same time. I love making stuff for little girls! So I made Rachel's baby girl a rag quilt...

The pictures are dark because it was so late when I finished!
And, I just posted this on my family blog, but I made Amie some girl stuff for her first baby girl...
The flowers on the handle are clips, I have a tutorial on those coming soon.
