Hallowen craftiness

It's been so long since I've had something creative to share. I have been smooch'n my wee babe!
But I do have a few Halloween items to show. First, my mom made these adorable Witch Treat Jars and my kids got to give them to their teachers on Friday.
Super cute.
Next, I have a little window in our toy room that I like to switch out the curtain on depending on the holiday. I got some extra fabric from a lady I know and I decided to make a ghost curtain.

Kinda plain, kinda boring so after a few days I decided to revamp it.

I turned it into a skirt for my daughter. And since Halloween was on a Sunday this year I decided to make another..

Added a little spooky fun to their outfits for church.

.

I love this Holiday.

happiness first aid kit

A week or so ago my kids had 3 friends having birthdays during the same weekend. So with only 2 days, not enough time to sew something, and a "need to be held at all times" baby I had to get creative!
I took a look around my house and tried to pull something out of thin air..... or my cupboards.
I had tab top cans..
scrapbook paper....
tape, scissors...
and candy.
Thus was born- The Happiness First Aid Kit!Inside each can is candy, with either little trinkets, jewelry, a little paint kit, or bath fizz balls. (You can find my tab top tutorial HERE.)
I also had my kids choose some sweet things they would say to the Birthday Person if they were sad to help cheer them up. Then they wrote their little messages down and I placed one in each can so when the can is opened that is the first thing they see.

Each can has a "Open Me If...." scenario on the front and on the back is a cute little word.

They are all placed into a Kit and are to be opened as needed!
Fun, inexpensive, different and sure to put a smile on a sad little face.

Naartjie inspired Crap to Craft!

.
We are slowly sifting through clothes and making piles for a future Garage Sale. I came upon this shirt which is a size 14. Our oldest is 7, so it would be a LONG time before this shirt would have fit.... but I love me some owls and couldn't bring myself to toss it out.
Being the huge fan of Naartjie kids clothes that I am, I took a closer look at this shirt and figured I could save it, mix it up and turn it into a comfy Fall dress and leggings for my 3 year old.

I started with the leggings, I cut the thermal fabric sleeves off of the shirt and sewed them onto a pair of size 4 panties.

Leggings-Finished!!
.
For the dress, I turned the shirt inside-out and took everything in about an inch and a half. Neck (on both sides), sleeves (I also pleated these), and sides. And for more of a fitted look I put a pleat in the back of the dress also. Dress-Finished!!

.
All in all this project took about 45 minutes.
